“HELPING CHILDREN & THEIR FAMILIES WHEN... EVERY DAY MATTERS”
Hi Friends & Family,
It’s that time of year again when I come asking for $$$’s.
After 30 years of smoking, I quit in 2001 and starting participating in running road races / marathons for my health AND to raise funds for worthy causes.
This year I was invited to join a team to run the Boston Marathon. My first marathon was in 2003 and I have been getting progressively slower as I age.... I’m still running & this will be my 12th Marathon. I am lucky to have thus far outrun lung cancer or any other serious illness and am so grateful that I am able to run for others who aren’t as lucky.
To run Boston, you have to post a QUALIFYING TIME. This 60 year old would never qualify, so I am ecstatic to have been invited and privileged to lend my support to Cops for Kids with Cancer http://copsforkidswithcancer.org a 501C3 not-for-profit organization that provides financial aid to families with kids stricken by cancer. In addition to the crushing emotional toll taken, there is a financial domino effect in having a child diagnosed with cancer. CFKWC helps families by providing them with financial assistance while they struggle to keep focus on helping their children fight and hopefully defeat the disease. Families are each awarded $5,000 to help relieve the stress of financial burdens and hopefully put a small smile on their face. If you can imagine this predicament, you can certainly understand.
Please support my efforts to raise $3,000 for “Cops for Kids with Cancer” - together we can put a small smile on the faces of these struggling families. Most often, one parent must leave a job. Some treatments are not fully covered by insurance. It’s expensive to come to the hospital every day to be with your child – gas costs, parking fees and meals can add hundreds of dollars a week to a budget already cut in half. Families, once solvent, now find themselves on the financial brink.
We all know family or friends who have been stricken with this horrible disease. It is heartbreaking to watch families as they deal with such a devastating blow to the health of their children. Hopefully, together we can try and make some small difference to ease their pain…
Please open your hearts and wallets to the Boston Marathon and CFKWC! Any size donation will make a difference and I promise to give you your money’s worth while I run 26.2 miles in your name.
