How many times did you check your e-mail today? how about your Facebook? Twitter? LinkedIn or other social media? What would you do if you did not know how to use a computer? Can you ever imagine living without the internet? Most of us will say "no", knowing how to use a computer or having access to the internet is part of our basic need because it enables us to connect with the world, it helps us find our way when we are lost through maps or simply find answers to some of our most pertinant questions.
Do you also remember being young and getting lost in your favorite book for hours? How about the way you felt when your favorite story was read to you?
Children at the Tombo II Primary school do not experience any of this. They go to a school with no computers and no library. They spend hours copying lessons from the board into their notebooks because the school cannot afford to give them books or activity handouts. These students, like others in the Republic of Guinea are cut off from the world.
YOU CAN CHANGE THIS. You can change the lives of 1634 students and their teachers by helping us raise $4140 to complete a computer library project at the school.
With the funds raised through crowdrise and the $4000 we have alread raised WE CAN CHANGE the story of these students.
What will we do with the money raised ?
We will renovate a classroom and turn it into a library/ computer room.
Buy new shelves, desks, chairs, floor mats, computers, printers and a new sound system.
Pay the salary of the computer teacher for 1 year- he/she will teach students basic computer skills.
Most important, YOU will help us create an environment where IMAGINATIONS SOAR!
DONATE NOW TO HELP US REACH OUR GOAL AND ASK YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME!
