I'm excited about this Across the Bay 10k run for two -- no, three -- heck, make that four -- reasons.
First, because it will help raise money for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and help preserve an important natural resource. That's why I'm asking you to donate.
Second, because it's the first organized run I've done as an adult (I did a 5k a few times as a kid).
Third, because it gives me a target for my return to running. In 2011 I suffered a severe ankle sprain and tendonitis, which eventually required me to lay off running entirely for a while. I haven't gotten back up to doing 10k distances yet, and I'm sure that training for this event will inspire me.
And fourth, this event represents the return of a great Maryland tradition in a new form. We did the Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Walk when I was a kid, and it's nice to see it back in a way.
