EVENT DATE: Jul 31, 2011
Here is the deal, family and friends.
I am running the San Francisco half marathon on July 31st for charity, with a group called "Shanti C.A.R.E.S." And I need your help. Let me convince you why you should throw your pocket change at my half marathon.
The reasons to sponsor me are threefold. Hear me out.
1. I am running in a group of fellow everyday people on behalf of an amazing non-profit organization that makes a real difference. It is called Shanti: the organizationi works to enhance the quality of life, health and well-being of people living with life-threatening illnesses, including Breast Cancer and HIV/AIDS. Shanti does all kinds of great things with their money, including education, outreach, prevention, emotional and practical support....things that get you into heaven, really. Go to shanti.org to find out specifics.
2. I need to raise 1,300 dollars by July 31st. That's a lot of money. You can help me do it, and your support means the world to me.
3. I am not by any stretch of the imagination a very good runner. So by sponsoring me, you are also sponsoring my personal hell in training. I plan on updating my site often regarding my progress (also known as complaining) in case you get bored and want to find out how your I'm doing progressing in training during the coming months. Entertainment for your donation!
As a caveat, while I am not a good runner, I have attempted half marathons in the past: the first was the San Jose Half Marathon in 2009 (see pic of sprinting across the finish line) and this is my second attempt at the San Francisco Half Marathon, but a cold and some minor flaring of my plantar made me pull out. So I have redemption on my mind and I'm really motivated. But, I need your money.
Please donate! Donate a lot! Or a little. And thank you.
Blood, sweat, and I assure you, plenty of tears,
