THE STORY:

Aloha... My name is Toni Childs, I am Emmy Winner and three-time Grammy nominated recording artist. And I am recently back from an amazing music trek in Nepal where we debuted my new album It's All a Beautiful Noise at 10,000ft, and gave a series of free concerts for the people who live on the Annapurna Circuit. BACKGROUND We trekked a total of 11 days (April 10 to the 20th) on a small portion of the entire Annapurna Circuit. 52 people made up our trekking party: two guides and 25 sherpas would carry all our gear up and down the mountain range: generators, electric guitars, keyboards, amps, and so much more. It would turn out we left Nepal 36 hours before the devastating earthquake would hit, leaving us all gutted with both concern and bittersweet feelings for our trip and the Nepal Crew we left behind. It took us quite a few days to hear news from our beautiful Nepalese friends. Hari at Life Dream Adventured who organized our trek, was the first to make contact, and then our guides Sabin and Ob. We were told that most of our sherpas were accounted for, but we are still waiting to hear what has happened to the ones who lived near the epicenter. We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed. Everyone one of our Nepal crew we've heard from lost their home, place of business, and villages, but happily their families are safe. Since our return, my husband and I have been busy organizing a benefit concert in collaboration with Naren and Sono owners of the Crystal Castle in Mullumbimby NSW, the Byron Bay Community Radio Station - BayFm, and the community radio network across Australia, and Biggs Sound, Renny Sax Photography, Oz Tix and some very special guests. We are very pleased to announce that our Rebuild Nepal Benefit Concert raised $50,000 May 30th. And we just finished editing and mixing a two hour broadcast that will air over the next two weeks on Community Radio Station across Australia. It is very important to all of us working on Rebuild Nepal that 100% of what is raised goes to the people of Nepal. Your giving goes four ways: It is very important to all of us working on this event that 100% of what is raised goes to the people of Nepal. Your giving goes four ways: 1) Tents to Nepal - immediate shelter relief - $10,000 sent the week of June 8th 2) Karuna-Shechen - food and medical relief efforts by the monks - $10,000 sent the week of June 8th 3) Access Nepal - mental health work - $10,000 sent the week of June 8th 4) Funds taken directly to people and groups on the ground - $20,000 In the case of number four Naren (from Crystal Castle) and myself will take funds raised to Nepal (traveling at our own expense) in order to assess where the money is most needed, and to ensure the funds get to people on the ground. Please be sure and share Rebuild Nepal with your networks and help us do what we can for the people of Nepal. peace, love and deep gratitude, toni childs
