BENEFITING: SOUTH SUBURBAN HUMANE SOCIETY
*UPDATE* we hit 125%! Thank you all! We still have 4 days left so let's see just how much we can raise for these homeless hospice dogs and cats in need!
Derringer was a hound mix saved by South Suburban Humane Society(Chicago Heights) from a high kill shelter in Illinois. sadly, it was soon learned she had advanced malignant cancer that had spread throughout her body, including her lungs and bones. A "bucket list" was created for her so she could live out her final days fulfilling adventures and being surround by love. She was able to check off a couple items on her list and experience pure joy. However, on September 5th, the cancer became too much. She was surround and held by members of SSHS, which included her hospice foster mom Megan, as she passed away, finally free from pain and able to run free. She was able to experience love and life and family in her final days, something she deserved to have. Every dying dog or cat deserves deserves the same experience. It is my hope for me, and you reading this, to help them. On October 11th, 2015, I'll be running the Chicago Marathon for Team Tag Heuer/Nike. It is my hope to raise money for SSHS that will go toward any dog or cat in hospice care, so that they too can experience love and have their own "bucket list" in their final days before crossing over the bridge, just like Derringer. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. Funds go directly to SSHS. Be a part of something special, and help dying dogs and cats be able finally know what it is to be loved and have a family. It is our duty be their protectors, to be their voice, to be their safe haven. Godspeed sweet Derringer 9.5.15
