Ready to be filled with supplies...

Thanks again to all that have contributed to making kids feel confident on their first day of school. We have raised $350 o far, with only See more
Hey everyone, Do you remember when summer was winding down and you were looking forward to school? Thinking about going into another grade, seeing old classmates and meeting new ones was an exciting thought. And then there was the new outfits and school supplies. Even though I went to a Catholic grade school, Mom still took us to get new clothes. (During the first week we wore our regular clothes prior to getting uniforms.) And of course school supplies were in abundance. We were fortunate to not even think about where they would come from. Everything was shiny and new and the world was opening up to us once again. Unfortunately not every child has a chance to experience this. There are over 20,000 children in the New York City homeless shelters. Where do they get their new clothes and school supplies from? Their parents are struggling just to keep them together as a family. And making sure that they are fed. We all know that kids can be cruel at times. Imagine that little boy or girl going back to school without supplies? Or even worse, a ragged and dirty backpack that is on its last thread. I can't ! I love children and all they offer. Their innocence and imagination is magical. We grow up too fast and sometimes forget those first days of school. My aim is to make them smile and instill self esteem. I have seen news reports for several years on the backpack drives and always thought I should contribute. So, here I am with the first new backpack that needs to be filled. I got a Toms tie dye one on sale and it is just so cool. I know that it is going to make a kid very happy. Would you please consider donating anything you can. I am going to start getting supplies for my kid's backpack today. And, for those that know me, you know that I will get good deals. Every little bit helps a kid be TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL. Thank, guys!
