EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2011

TopSpin is a participant in the FJC Fiscal Sponsorship Program.
TopSpin Chicago goes to the support of the following three beneficiaries:
Noble Network of Charter Schools has delivered an outstanding public education to low-income high school students in Chicago for more than a decade. Noble is the largest and highest performing open enrollment high school in Chicago serving more than 7,000 students across the city. With 98% of graduates enrolling in college, Noble is proving what is possible in urban education.
Working in the Schools (WITS) is a literacy organization that increases the reading proficiency and learning capacity of low-income and minority students in Chicago Public Schools. WITS recruits and supports dedicated business, government and community volunteers who deliver measurable and consistent tutoring and mentoring services. By placing and transporting both community individuals and corporate groups into CPS through 5 literacy programs, WITS strives to cultivate a love of reading and learning while enhancing student possibilities for success.
In Chicago’s public school system, only 3 in 100 African American and Hispanic students go on to graduate from college. Rowe was founded to address the acute need to better educate children on the city’s poverty and crime-impacted West Side, and prepare them for college and life success from kindergarten. A progressive, “college prep” charter school, Rowe combines rigorous academics with social services and socio-emotional support for both “scholars” and families – a holistic approach designed to grow learning, achievement and community.
