TOUCH has provided services to Rockland County residents living with HIV and other chronic illnesses for over 29 years. In 2003, TOUCH established its Eating Well Nutrition Program based on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formally ADA) Medical Nutrition Therapy model. The program focuses on providing healthy food and nutrition counseling to improve health outcomes, distributing over 11,000 healthy meals each month.
TOUCH implemented the Get Fresh initiative in 2010, working with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY to distribute food to agencies in Rockland County. This program collects and distributes 40,000 pounds of food every month; over 3,000,000 pounds since inception.
TOUCH is leading the effort to expand its Get Fresh program to a new Food Recovery Program, working with the Rockland Community Against Hunger collaborative (RCAH). RCAH brings food pantries, feeding programs and the community together in collaboration to address issues of hunger in Rockland County.
