Please consider helping out:
Restavek is a form of human trafficking that persists in Haiti, affecting 1 out of every 10 children. Restavek children are typically born into poor rural families who can't care for all their children and so they are often given to relatives or strangers on the promise of care and education. But in their new homes, many become domestic slaves, performing menial tasks for no pay, facing terrible abuse and hardship.
We're are raising $3,900 to support Haitian church and community leaders like Erwin (see the video on the left) who are building a movement to end this injustice, and we could use your support. This amount pays for 3 leaders to mobilize churches and communities to return these children to their families. To help shed light on this need, we are competing in the Tough Mudder on June 14th. The competition involves several hours of mentally and physically taxing challenges that pale in comparison to the challenges Restavek children face every day.
Whether you are inspired by the video or simply pity us for torturing ourselves for a morning, please consider helping out! To find out more about the work of Haiti Partners, go to http://haitipartners.org/what-we-do/
