While doing a 12-mile Tough Mudder Obstacle Race (yes, the race where you can get explosive diarrhea from, according to the CDC, as 6 different friends have reminded me), I'm hoping to raise at least $1,300 to help a young Haitian church leader make a difference for vulnerable children in their community. I'm so inspired by their courage and dedication, that devoting the tiny fraction of courage it takes to run this course to help them seems like the least I can do.
$1,300 pays the part-time salary of one of the Micah Scholars, young church leaders who receive a scholarship to study at a Haitian seminaru, and then apprentice in our work to end the trafficking and exploitation of over 200,000 children in Haiti. To find out more about this work, go to http://haitipartners.org/what-we-do/churches/.
I'm personally giving $200 towards this goal. Whoever gives, I'll write their name on my race bib. And I'll be sure to share the muddy photos and videos afterwards. And Mom, don't worry at all about the diahhrea. It's one of the risks of working in Haiti, and after nearly 4 years, it hasn't gotten me yet.
Thanks so much!
