BENEFITING: MERCY MEDICAL CENTER INC
On September 24, 1851, on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, four intrepid missionaries of the Augustinian Sisters of Boulogne-Sur-Mer, France, crossed the Atlantic to settle in Northeast Ohio, eventually opening Mercy Hospital in Canton on September 24, 1908.
To celebrate 163 years of devotion to healing while raising awareness and funds for Mercy Cancer Center, I will cycle 1,851 kilometres alone in 15 days on my Fuji Gran Fondo across France and Italy.
On September 9, 2014, I will begin in Bergamo Italy cycling northwest into France. While in France I will cycle as far west as Valence before heading south to Marseille at which point I will turn easterly and finish in Milan on September 23. I will return to Canton on September 24, 2014, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy.
To paraphrase one of those first missionaries, a 24-year old postulate named Mademoiselle Louise Burleys, "Surely I can do this for God. No earthly tie binds me."
