BENEFITING: St. James Episcopal Church
The Memorial Bell Tower at St. James is undergoing a $1,000,000 restoration project. Built in 1919 in honor of seven members of the Upper Montclair and St. James community who died in WWI, the Tower also stands as a symbol of peace, in thanks to those who returned safely. "We have an obligation to remember those who died in war," said Rev. Melissa Hall, rector at St. James. "Or else war becomes an abstraction. And when war becomes an abstraction, peace becomes an abstraction."
Thanks to an anonymous benefactor, we have a $400,000 head start on the fundraising. And this benefactor has also agreed to a 4-to-1 match, meaning each dollar donated is worth $5.
Help us save our community tower, a piece of our history.
