I'm new to this team, and I look forward to joining in the efforts to raise money to make Phase 2 of this project a reality. See More

THE STORY:

Fredisia Francis & Jacqueline Macauley wrote -

We, former students of Tower Hill Municipal School, are raising money to help Tower Hill Municipal School in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  We will take the process in Phases.  We are very grateful that we met our  Phase One   goal, which was to provide  124  desks & benches for students in 3 classrooms  (classes 1, 2, & 3).  With generous support from our donors, we were able to raise the $5,208 needed for the desks and benches for those 3 classrooms.  We will now start the building process, so the desks and benches will be available to the students as soon as possible.  We have contracted with a carpenter in Freetown, who will make the desks and benches  for us.  We will post pictures when they are delivered to the school.

We now move on to Phase Two, which is to repair major damages to some of the classrooms.  Please view the pictures on the site to see the extremely hazardous conditions of the classrooms.  This process in Phase Two will be costly, and we are unable to accomplish this without your help. We kindly ask that you please consider helping us by donating.  If you haven't already donated, it is not too late to do so.  If you have already donated, and would like to do so again, we would be very grateful.  You will be making a difference in these students' lives, and your contribution will be of great help to them.

Our future Phases include painting the entire school, providing basic school supplies, and providing additional desks & benches for the remaining classrooms that are in dire need of replacement.  $45 provides a desk and bench for 3 students in a class.

Each of us have fond memories of attending Tower Hill Municipal School as children.  For many of us, that was the last school we attended before relocating to the United States or the UK.  Several of us are still friends and have been friends since we first entered Tower Hill in class 1 (kindergarten).  We value the education we received at Tower Hill Municipal School and would like the students attending there now to get the same opportunities that we did.

Thank you in advance for your support.
