Towson University: Summer in Japan
Organized by: Stacey Dougher
Hello everyone! My name is Stacey and I am a Forensic Chemistry major at Towson University. I recently was accepted into a study abroad program to Japan during the Summer of 2016. First a little bit about me, I am a member of the Honors College at Towson University which is located outside of Baltimore. I am a going into my sophmore year of college with a cummulative GPA of 3.724 while taking 18 credits each semester of my Freshman year. I am a member of various clubs on campus but I am mostly involved in the FSSO (Forensic Science Student Oraganization) on campus. I also have a twin sister who will be heading to Japan as well. As you can proabably guess, my parents do not expect to pay over $10,000 for us both to go to Japan; therefore, I am reaching out to the community and scholarships to fund my trip to Japan. Now that you know a little more about me I can tell you more of why I really want to participate in this study abroad opportunity. As a Forensic Chemistry major, I have to take approximately 18 credits every semester, leaving me with very little time to do a study abroad program. Honestly, the only time I would be able to do a trip abroad would be the summer of 2016. Furthermore, I adore the Japanese culture! I love watching animes in Japanese, cosplaying, and eating different foods. I have had previous travel experience and I have loved every second of it. I deeply enjoy experiencing other cultures and diverse groups of people. This is an experience of a lifetime and I am thrilled that I have been given the opportunity to study abroad at one of the places I have always wanted to go! However, I do have to fund my trip. Thank you for your generosity!
