BENEFITING: The Pittsburgh Project

EVENT: Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon 2013

EVENT DATE: May 05, 2012

THE STORY:

Join Team Pittsburgh Project at the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon and help us raise support.

Click the big DONATE button or go one step further and help us fundraise by joining us, as a runner or walker, on our 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon team. You'll get your own fundraising page to share with all your amazing family and friends.

If you'd like to run OR walk, please follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Register to Run* - (Note: Registration fees go up and space becomes more limited after January 7)

Step 2: Scroll down and click “Join the Team” to create your own fundraising page

Step 3: Begin fundraising!

To participate as one of our charity runners or walkers, we require a fundraising commitment as outlined below. We can’t reach our $5,000 goal without your help.

Fundraising Minimums and Age Ranges:

Full Marathon: $500, ages 18 and up

Relay Team: $750 (for the whole team), ages 16 and up

Half Marathon: $350, ages 14 and up

5K: $150, ages 12 and up*

Children’s Walk: $50

*Once you’ve raised your fundraising commitment, you will be able to submit your receipt and we will reimburse you for your registration fee!

NOTE: This is our first year as a Contributing Charity with the Pittsburgh Marathon, so you won’t see us listed with the Official Charities. If we are one of the TOP 5 contributing charities in terms of dollars raised, we will be able to become an Official Charity of the Pittsburgh Marathon.

More About Us

The Pittsburgh Project is a nonprofit community development organization with a 27-year track record of developing leaders and serving the city’s most vulnerable residents.  We operate a progressive series of afterschool and summer programs for 300 urban young people, deploy over 2,600 people annually to perform free home repairs for Pittsburgh’s elderly and vulnerable homeowners, and participate in community rejuvenation efforts in our Pittsburgh neighborhood (the Northside).

  • Vision: That Pittsburgh will be called a City of Truth, where once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets each with cane in hand because of age, and where the city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there (adapted from Zechariah 8:4-5)

  • Purpose: We develop servant leaders and uphold the dignity of vulnerable homeowners

How far does your contribution go?

$50 pays for tools to fix up a senior's home

$100 pays for supplies for one child in our afterschool program

$250 pays for new window or door for an elderly homeowner

$10,000 pays for repairs for two seniors' homes or for one afterschool teacher for a year

“The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say” 4 years ago
