Step 3: Begin fundraising!
To participate as one of our charity runners or walkers, we require a fundraising commitment as outlined below. We can’t reach our $5,000 goal without your help.
Fundraising Minimums and Age Ranges:
Full Marathon: $500, ages 18 and up
Relay Team: $750 (for the whole team), ages 16 and up
Half Marathon: $350, ages 14 and up

*Once you’ve raised your fundraising commitment, you will be able to submit your receipt and we will reimburse you for your registration fee!
NOTE: This is our first year as a Contributing Charity with the Pittsburgh Marathon, so you won’t see us listed with the Official Charities. If we are one of the TOP 5 contributing charities in terms of dollars raised, we will be able to become an Official Charity of the Pittsburgh Marathon.
More About Us
The Pittsburgh Project is a nonprofit community development organization with a 27-year track record of developing leaders and serving the city’s most vulnerable residents. We operate a progressive series of afterschool and summer programs for 300 urban young people, deploy over 2,600 people annually to perform free home repairs for Pittsburgh’s elderly and vulnerable homeowners, and participate in community rejuvenation efforts in our Pittsburgh neighborhood (the Northside).
Vision: That Pittsburgh will be called a City of Truth, where once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets each with cane in hand because of age, and where the city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there (adapted from Zechariah 8:4-5)
- Purpose: We develop servant leaders and uphold the dignity of vulnerable homeowners
How far does your contribution go?
$50 pays for tools to fix up a senior's home
$100 pays for supplies for one child in our afterschool program
$250 pays for new window or door for an elderly homeowner
$10,000 pays for repairs for two seniors' homes or for one afterschool teacher for a year
