BENEFITING: THINK PINK ROCKS
ORGANIZER: THINK PINK ROCKS
EVENT: NYC Half 2013
EVENT DATE: Mar 17, 2013
Welcome to my donation page!
On March 17th 2013, I will be running the New York City Half marathon on behalf of the charity Think Pink Rocks*, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research.
As a member of the team, my goal is to raise $1,000; however, we all know that I am an overachiever and would love to kick that number up a few Benjamins. I am kindly asking for donations to support a cause that is close to my heart. My legs will be tearing up every mile (13.1 to be exact) earning every cent of your donations while every beat of my heart will be in memory of my Nonna, Dina Santioni. I can visualize Nonna standing at the finish line proudly with a salami and cheese sandwich and some tasty pizzelles (forget the bagels and apples people; this is how the Italians finish…). Although my Nonna ultimately lost her battle which began with the diagnosis of breast cancer, the war is not over and organizations such as Think Pink Rocks are on the front lines!
I truly thank all of you for your support and any donations you are able to drop into my boobie bank. Lasty, I know this cancer has affected many families and I will proudly add your loved one's name to my racing shirt alongside Nonna's.
Peace, Love and Rock’n the Pink,
*All money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the NYC Half 2013 will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City
p.s. Did you know:
• A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation).
• Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer. Our team will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
