THE STORY:

For all of us that have the pleasure to know Tracey, we know that she is going through a difficult time with her unexpected news. Unfortunately, having to go through cancer treatment and not being able to work, has left a financial burden on Tracey. This fund was created to raise funds to assist Tracey and her family during this difficult time with various expenses that come up. Please donate and help Tracey out! Here is Tracey's Story: "After discovering a lump in my right upper breast in early June 2016 , I had a visit to my family doctor & had a routine yearly mammogram done on June 21st 2016. A few days later I received a call from my family doctor who wanted more images done. After more pics done, & my family doctor reviewing them, he discovered 3 lesions that were suspicious looking. With a family history of my mother & aunt both having breast cancer in the early 1990's, my doctor acted right away on getting me setup for have a ultrasound & needle biopsy on the right breast. I knew it wouldn't be long if there was anything to worry over I'd get a call from my family doctor. On July 25th, i received the call but it wasn't my family doctor. It was from a local oncologist saying I was being referred to them from my doctor who was going on holidays. I knew right away from the local name on the phone of the oncologist who dealt with cancer patients and treatment that it probably wasn't good news. With a family history my doctor wanted me in right away to discuss the biopsy results. I had that horrifying gut feeling without being told on the phone it was breast cancer just from knowing who I was going to see. I met with the oncologist July 27th ,all 3 lesions which includes one lymph node in my arm came back positive High-Grade. My breast cancer is HER 2 Positive which I've been told is treatable. I went for a EKG ,a Intravenous MRI, a Ct scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread to other areas. Due to one lymph node being tested positive it makes it invasive to other parts of my body. What I've been told is my prognosis is really positive. I had my first chemo treatment Aug.24th I will go through 15 months chemotherapy starting with once every 3 weeks for 3 months, then once a week still uncertain for how many though or how long. I have a clip inserted in my right breast that will determine the shrinkage of the tumours in the breast. At some point I will have to have surgery & 5 weeks radiation. I have met with a radiation doctor & soon I will meet with a surgeon to discuss what needs to be done. I was told it might involve having a lumpectomy & removal of all my lymph nodes in my arm or 1 or both breast removed and nodes. It will all depend on the gene test to determine if I carry the same gene as my mom. If i carry the gene it was recommended to have a double mastectomy. I have never had surgery ever & was referred to a top breast cancer surgeon in all of Canada. With more options such as this it has helped ease my mind & will make my having to go through it a little less worrisome. I was currently working part time job before this all happened. Actually after working 19 years in retail I decided to apply for another part time job to help us out. I was so happy to land another job in a field I did many years ago, Food and Beverage serving. Everything was going great in my life, loving the new job working on managing both jobs. I was very happy that finally we were getting ahead in life catching up on finances & having a little extra too.... then this happens. It's definitely a setback in my life, a bumpy hurdle in my road but we will cross it & get through this. I know I have to concentrate on getting better focus on me & put a lot behind me right now .I will have a battle that's for sure. I am still learning things daily & will gain my strength & courage. I have no doubt I will come through this fight stronger than ever. With that said, the road ahead over the next 15 months will definitely be a challenge. I will travel back and worth for treatment out of my city for radiation & surgery. Every day I'm filled with a mix of mental emotions to stay positive trying very hard to not let the fear enter. With inner strength, and knowing I will not face this alone & the very huge support I feel from family & friends around me I will get through this."
