Thank you so much for your d…
Thank you so much for your donation. On 4/20/15, although it wasn't the ideal running weather, I had the time of my life. The crowds were so thick I feared missing friends & family but amidst the crowds, I saw a familiar sign. I saw the sign Ali made for me. I crossed from the right side of the road all the way to the left to see Ali & her family. I hugged Ali's mom twice & continued to run with tears in my eyes. They stood out in the rain for hours waiting for one second with me to run a marathon they never asked me to do. That speaks volumes about this family that I only met in October. I then got nervous I missed my family so I took out my phone & called my sister as I ran. A few 10ths of a mile up, my family stood patiently waiting. They too weathered the conditions for a moment I don't think my children comprehended nor appreciated. The responses after the marathon were "mom I clapped so much. Why didn't you ever come?" "Mom couldn't you have run faster?" After our photo, I continued on my way to Boston knowing Tom would be shortly after BC. When I finally saw him, I was so excited. I had been scanning both sides of the road & hopeful he was on the right side because I wasn't really feeling crossing the road at this point :)

Thousands of people stood out in umbrellas cheering. Constant chatter of "Go Kate Go" & smiles with words of encouragement. It truly is why Boston is the only Marathon I would do because the crowd carries you. It gets you to the finish line. I relished every moment on Monday. I may not have broken any personal records, but I hugged every friend & family member I saw on the course & I enjoyed every single moment.

Boston is so inspiring. You see so many shirts for so many causes. We charity runners all have a person or a reason that we are pounding the pavement. Then you see those with disabilities. I watched Rebekah DiMartino running down Boylston with her trainer & I started to cry as I witnessed her crying. She has taken back what was stolen from her.

Recently, my dad asked me what I do now & I shed tears. In 4 months, I raised over $24,000. With your help, we raised enough for donations for almost 5 families. Pediatric cancer patients & their families have been on my mind for the past several months & today I feel sad that this "journey" is over. I know my running coach recently said the journey isn't over but rather it has just begun & I want to live by those words.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
