Ventura County has the highest rate of reported domestic violence in California counties with populations greater than 65,000. Tonight, more than 200 homeless youths will be sleeping on the streets. One(1) in four(4) women and their children will experience family violence at home.

As a family law attorney, I have seen that domestic violence has a stigma, it is an uncomfortable subject to talk about and it effects every socioeconomic class. Recently, it seems that I am reading about more and more murder-suicides taking place in the home.

Interface Children & Family Services is the region's most comprehensive nonprofit social services agency providing 24,000 local clients annually with services to address the complex needs of client and the community. As a critical safety net for children and families, Interface provides 24 distinct programs across six major program areas including mental health services, youth services, family violence intervention, justice-involved families, and community development and 2-1-1 information and referral in 19 counties. Interface provides family support, domestic violence intervention, outreach and youth activities, as well as prevention and counseling within economically challenged communities. Their website may be located at:

In an effort to raise money for Interface Children & Family Services, I am currently training for an ultra-marathon, "Nine Trails." Santa Barbara Nine Trails is a tough 35-mile race and has more than ten thousand feet of vertical gain. Experienced runners compare this race to a tough 50-miler. The race occurs on March 25, 2017. The race information may be read at:

Any donation is not too small! Interface is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. I would sincerely appreciate any donation to this organization in an effort to decrease domestic violence in our community.
