BENEFITING: TRAIN 4 AUTISM
ORGANIZER: TRAIN 4 AUTISM
EVENT DATE: Oct 09, 2016
On October 9, 2016, I will be running the Long Beach half-marathon in hopes of raising funds for autism.
While there are so many causes to raise funds and awareness for (i.e. cancer research, education, clean water, child abuse, drug abuse/alcoholism), I have chosen to be sponsored by "Train 4 Autism" because of how closely it hits home for me. Three years ago, I had the opportunity to go on a short-term summer mission to China. There, at the Shepherd's Field Children's Village, I was able to spend time with orphans (mostly with special needs and abandoned by their parents) and saw the direct benefits that a few donations could bring in amping up the supplies and funds necessary to school and support special-needs children. Two weeks ago, I learned that an orphan with autism at the school had passed away. With that death, he simply became another statistic of an autistic child who could not experience the simple beauty of life itself.
Autism is just one problem under the umbrella of special needs, but I firmly believe that together, we can help raise the funds necessary for different ideas and programs to become reality in helping autistic and special-needs children.
Your donation to "Train 4 Autism" will help purchase much-needed supplies for the newly launched Special Day Program at Long Beach's Emerson Parkside Academy in Spring 2017.
Please let me know if you would like more information. Your support and prayers are much appreciated!
