Hi everyone! As a lot of you already know, I'm going to be running my first half marathon in San Francisco on July 31. I'm really excited, and also see this as an excellent opportunity to give back to a great cause.
Despite its prevalence in the US (about 1 in 110 new diagnoses in 2009), ASD research is hugely underfunded. ASD affects more individuals in the US than Leukemia, Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, and Juvenile Diabetes, but receives the least national funding.
With early intervention and effective treatment, individuals with ASD can live productive lives as integral members of our society. By donating to this cause, you will be helping to fund interventions which will give newly diagnosed individuals this opportunity. Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Van Gogh, Lewis Carroll, Charles Darwin, Thomas Jefferson, Emily Dickinson, and Isaac Newton are a few examples of individuals diagnosed on the Autism spectrum.
Any donation you can make to support me and this cause would be hugely appreciated! Thank you all in advance for your support!! :)
