BENEFITING: The ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter
EVENT DATE: Oct 21, 2012
I am a mother of 3 beautiful girls ages 5 months, 3 years, and 5 years! My family means everything to me. My father-in-law was recently diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. My girls just adore Grandpa Steve, and we are dealing with this diagnosis as a strong, loving family. There is no cure for ALS. I will be running the Columbus Marathon on October 21, 2012 for the ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter with the intent to raise funds for research to find a cure. Please if you have the means donate a dollar per mile. If you cannot donate then tell your family that you love them and do not take any moment for granted. Thanks!
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually lead to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.
Please donate a dollar per mile or fifty cents per mile if you can. This disease needs to be trampled!
