THE STORY:

PLEASE HELP A WORLD-CLASS TEAM INSPIRE BOLD AND HOPEFUL CHANGE TO INTERNATIONAL CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PRACTICE!

This is a unique chance to be part of something path-breaking.

Ours is an unprecedented and groundbreaking collaboration.  We’re a selective group of award-winning conservation and development practitioners embarking on a 1st-of-its-kind partnership to inspire transformative change to international practice.

We're unharnessing some of the most original and creative thinking across our disciplines to demonstrate the impact possible on the ground when we work differently.  We're using our own portfolios of work to push and test innovation.  And by the power and appeal of our example, we're challenging our fields to work at all times, and in all places, for a world where humanity and the natural world survive and thrive.

We aspire to see every practitioner with a footprint in the developing world working to conserve and to develop.  Working at all times at that "impact sweet spot" to find a sustainable balance.  No matter our setting or scale.  No matter our funder or brand.  It's essential for an enduring impact, and it's what should define truly world-class work.

Working in this way at the convergence of disciplines is both common sense and cutting-edge.  And it's a far cry from what's happening now.

Today's "integrated" projects and "interdisciplinary" approaches are failing to achieve change at big enough scale, at fast enough pace, and in a way that can endure over the long haul.  They have proven over time more tactical than strategic, and more protective of our fields, brands and organizations than inspiring of game-changing impact.  We need to bravely acknowledge that "integrating" is not enough, nor is it the fix.

Bold change to global practice is needed, and we can achieve it.

We want to inspire that change by sharing an uplifting, new vision for our fields on our now global website, by using our own portfolios of work as a kind of open-source innovation testbed for breakthrough design, and by joining our voices together in a clarion call for a meaningful rethink of conventional practice.

We are the first and only international initiative commited to such a bold, positive transformation of our fields of practice.

We need you, our FRIENDS and ALLIES, to join our growing DONORS CIRCLE.  As with any start-up, raising ongoing philanthropic support turns on our ability to raise private "seed capital" to launch and build.  Your tax-deductible donation makes that possible.

Your support reduces the ground costs of our work together and enables us to continue providing digital content, inspiration and resources to field practitioners around the world.  When we're testing and refining breakthrough work across sites in Africa and beyond, it enables the close participation of our local colleagues whose ideas are integral to our work.

Your contribution:

  • Enables us to continue fieldwork together as the world's-first Practitioners Alliance demonstrating what can be achieved if we work differently;
  • Makes it possible for Elizabeth, our Founder and the creative inspiration behind our collaboration, to join with us at our field sites across East Africa and beyond to inspire and implement innovation to our work and designs; and
  • Allows us to bring our local staff in from even more remote field locations to join their ideas with ours in a creative rethink of vision and strategy.

Unless you choose to remain anonymous, we're proud to gratefully recognize our supporters as members of our Donors Circle.

This is pioneering work.  Please visit www.TranscendDiscipline.com to read about our launch, meet the trailblazing team, and share in the big ideas inspiring our collaboration.  And for the quick story of our partnership, you can jump to "Nuts & Bolts."

In just eight weeks, news of our collaboration traveled to cheering across more than 100 countries!  Fellow practitioners, social entrepreneurs, philanthropy advisors, and scholars of social and environmental innovation - who work like us on the frontlines of some of the toughest social and environmental challenges of our time - have risen up around the world in reaction to our launch and to the vision and ideas we're sharing on the website.  To read what's being said, open “News Is Out!” under "FAQs!"

There will be news to make and celebrate together so please be sure to follow us on Twitter at @PractitionersWT.

You can do 3 amazing things in 3 minutes...please make as generous a donation as you can, click the "like" button on the bottom banner of any page of our website (it won't tag, track, record or post you), and share our appeal with a few good people.  If you ask, there's a good chance they'll give too.  And we can doing something together that's game-changing.  Thank you!
