Translator for Syrian Refugees in Greece
Organized by: Omneya Ghanem
The Syrian Crisis has displaced approximately 6.6 million people within Syria and has given another 4.6 million Syrians refugee-status . Many of these refugees are in dire need of medical assistance, especially while en route to Europe, where they will try and seek political asylum there. It has always been a dream of mine to help bring medical assistance to places of humanitarian crisis, especially in the Middle East - and with the help of these doctors, this dream has been transformed into a reality. I have been granted the phenomenal opportunity to travel to Lesvos, Greece this Friday (January 22) - one of the places where Syrians will land when they make it to Europe across the Mediterranean. I will be traveling with a team of doctors and translating for them, as most of these refugees will only speak Arabic. With the extremely gracious support of these doctors and the organization that we are partnering with, I will have my rooming accommodations covered. This fundraiser will help me cover the rest of the expenses, namely the round trip flight to and from Greece. Thank you all so much!
