THE STORY:

At the early age of 13 months, our son, Jackson, awoke with a burning sensation across his entire little body! He lost all sensations in his body, and was completely paralyzed from the neck down. We were not alone in the shock and lack of knowledge of the rare disorder that overtook him that day. The disorder is called Transverse Myelitis (TM)  and there is little research regarding the disorder. Thankfully,  the team of doctors at the Children's Hospital, Los Angeles, were able to identify it and prevent further medical problems. Dr. Desai, the lead Neurologist, helped save my son's physical health! While it's true that our whole family went through a lot during those couple weeks in the hospital, the end result could have taken a dramatically different route. Jackson's mobility was a blessing and his excruciating pain of feeling "on fire" had faded quickly. Dr. Desai said "I did not think he was ever going to walk again!" It's a miracle! There are many other children and families out there that were not as fortunate as our family was. Because we are so grateful for Jackson's immediate recovery, we want to help raise awareness and donations for the Transverse Myelitis Association (TMA). The TMA is a non-profit, international foundation, that supports patients, families of patients and research of TM and other neuro-immune disorders. I will be running for a cause this year--for all those that are effected by TM and any other Neuro-Immune disorders  because a miracle like that cannot just be left ignored. Please help me with any amount that you can! :)
