BENEFITING: American Red Cross
EVENT DATE: May 24, 2013
The Transwestern Team - Western Region is partnering with the American Red Cross by raising a fundraiser to aid the victims of the deadly tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. This will be held from Friday, May 24th - Friday, May 31st, 2013.
Funds will be channeled through the American Red Cross and can quickly aid victims of the tornado.
Carl Baker, executive director of the Mid-Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross, said the most immediate need is for money. Money that is donated will be turned into "relief’’ cards, which work like debit cards and allow victims to get the items they need.
"That’s the most immediate need right now. Victims need funds they can spend on their individual needs, whether it’s housing, clothing food or other necessities’’ he said.
All donations during next week's fund drive will go to tornado victims. Those wishing to donate can do so via online through this website. Checks should be made out to the American Red Cross and donors can place "Tornado disaster relief’’ in the memo section.
