BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
My grandmother, Vovó, is my hero and inspiration. This strong and powerful woman fought breast cancer fearlessly and courageously. Two years ago, this beautiful woman lost her battle to cancer. Although I miss her smile and laugh everyday, I am so grateful to have this incredible angel watching over me and my family. I will always admire her strength and perseverance. After deciding I wanted to run for Bright Pink, it still took me a few weeks to finally pull the trigger and register. Fundraising intimidated me (maybe even more than running 26.2 miles). I felt hesitant and uncomfortable asking people for money until I realized this: This money isn’t for me. I’m asking you to donate to a cause much greater than me. I’m spreading the word to raise money for this organization and to join Bright Pink in their mission to educate women to move from awareness to action in hopes for future generations to live healthier lives. My goal for this marathon is no longer just to finish the 26.2 miles, but more so to raise awareness for this organization that inspires so many women to become proactive advocates for their health. On October 8th, I will proudly run the Chicago Marathon in honor of my Vovó, all those who have been affected by breast cancer, and all those we are working to save. Thanks to everyone for donating to my campaign — together we’re making a brighter future for women.
