BENEFITING: This Star Wont Go Out Inc
Hi, I'm April! The time has finally come for me to tame the mane. I am donating about a foot of my hair* to Children with Hair Loss, a non-profit organization that has never charged a child for a hair replacement. They cater to children with alopecia, cancer, burns, trichotillomania, and other diseases that cause hair loss. Before I do, I am raising $400 for This Star Won't Go Out. After $400 is raised, the hair is GONE. This Star Won't Go Out (TSWGO) is a non-profit that gives financial grants to families who have a child diagnosed with life-threatening cancer. These grants work to alleviate the financial burden of cancer treatment. The grants can be put toward medical and travel expenses, anything the child needs, or personal expenses like rent or utility. TSWGO has given $300,000 to over 200 families since its founding in 2011. TSWGO is near and dear to my heart and was made in memory of my friends Lori and Wayne's daughter, Esther Earl. Esther passed away at the age of 16 in 2010 due to her thyroid cancer but continues to be an inspiration to thousands through her family, friends, and memoir This Star Won't Go Out. To find out more about Children with Hair Loss, visit their website at childrenwithhairloss.us. The donation requirements and applications for replacements are available on their website. To find out more about This Star Won't Go Out, visit their website at tswgo.org. Here, you can donate, see Star Children, shop for merch (Esther bracelets, t-shirts, and posters) and the book, and more. *I say about a foot because I'm trimming a bit of the ends before chopping it. My hair reaches my butt, and I'm cutting it to my armpits.
