BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
EVENT DATE: Apr 12, 2015
So... I completed my 1st ever Triathlon this weekend--Ramseur Lake, NC!! It was by far the most physically challenging thing I had ever done in my life (I thought I was in decent shape prior to the event). Shortly after the race (for those of you not receiving my facebook posts) this is what I wrote to show how I felt/how the race went:
Well I learned a lot about myself today!! There were 2 times when I wanted to quit, but remembered what suicide prevention was all about--keeping those who feel like quitting, from quitting. I am pretty sure I drowned twice--once on the .93 mile swim and once on the 10K run (drinking out of a cup while running is pretty hard--attempt with extreme caution!). I came into this Tri with 5 goals:
1)Honor Rob, Manny and Jose
3)Not drown (messed that one up--haha)
4)Don't fall off my bike (messed that one up too--legs werent working properly transitioning from the swim--haha)
5) Don't trip on the run--mastered that one!!
Unknowingly--I took 1st place in the 30-34 age category!!
I have posted a few pictures from the event. Thank you all for your continued support in raising money/awareness for suicide prevention.
