I was invited to join Achilles-NYC during the winter of 2012. Since that time I have been introduced to an amazing network of physically challeneged athletes, guides and handlers. I have been able to race in triathlons and road races with these amazing people all over the northeastern United States and learn some of the challenges and joys faced by other athletes like myself, who aren't regular age-groupers. The funds raised from this site will help pay for many of the costs involved with racing, including entry fees, but more importantly, some of the specialized equipment needed, such as tandem bicycles. Achilles NYC has personally helped me race the NYC triathlon, the NYC Marathon and NYC 1/2 Marathon, to just name a few races.
On October 1st of last year, I was able to travel to Cambridge, MD where I was able to be the first person with dwarfism to race in a full Ironman triathlon. Though the race was shortened due to weather, I was able to complete the 126.2 mile course set out that day in a little more than 14 hours.
I completed the Boston Marathon for the 4th time in April of 2017.
I also intend on returning to Maryland this October to again complete in IRONMAN MARYLAND.Whether or not you are able to help financially, I ask that you please share this site with others in the hopes that they can help out with some of the great work done by Achilles-NYC.
