BENEFITING: GREATER GREEN BAY YMCA INC
EVENT DATE: Aug 03, 2014
As some of you may know, I'm training for my one and only ever in my life Ironman, which is in Boulder, CO on August 3. Back in 2009, I was doing the mommy thing and didn't really spend a lot of time taking care of myself. That all changed when I started taking a class at the Y called Shape Up. All that fitness I lost started slowing coming back, and I did my first sprint tri in September 2009. The YMCA has been a constant in my life since then during the highs and lows the past few years. Fast forward a few years, and I've done a handful of 1/2 marathons, one full marathon, 4 half-irons, and now I'm a few weeks away from the big Ironman day. This goal would not have been attainable without the support and encouragement I received at the Y from trainers, employees, and friends.
The YMCA isn't just for out of shape moms. My kids have also had fun there, be it gym and swim class, gymnastics, or camp. The Annual Campaign sets up scholarships for kids whose parents may not otherwise be able to pay for their programs. In addition to that, they have started a Livestrong program for cancer survivors. So, to thank the YMCA for all it has done for me and my family, I am raising money for those who cannot afford the monthly dues and program fees. Any help you may want to give is greatly appreciated. Also, please keep me in your thoughts on August 3--NO FLAT TIRES!
An Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run, for a total of 140.6 miles. So, I'd like to raise $1,406.00 for the Y.
If I make my goal, the YMCA will get a $500 bonus donation from me. Thanks in advance!
