BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
EVENT DATE: Aug 21, 2016
Alzheimer's is a disease that takes your mind, your dignity, and eventually your life. My grandfather, Dwight, died with Alzheimer's after several miserable years of being plagued with confusion, frustration, and anger. Jason's grandmother, Edna, is currently suffering from Alzheimer's. My father, Ken, at the young age of 64, has been showing the progression of Alzheimer's for several years now. There is no cure, and limited treatments for those suffering from this horrible disease.
The Ohio 70.3 "Half Ironman" triathlon is a race where participants swim 1.2 miles, bike 56 miles, then run 13.1 miles. On August 20, I will participate in this race with Alzheimer's sufferers and their families in my heart. My race training begins April 17. As I train, I am also raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Formed in 1980, the Alzheimer's Association advances research to end Alzheimer's and dimentia while enhancing care for those living with the disease. Please consider donating. Thank you for your support!
