Trina's 'Swords' Against Sarcoma
Organized by: Darla Coy
My sister, Trina, has been diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma, which is a unique/rare type of cancer therefore, difficult to treat. The diagnosis was a long time coming since she couldn't afford health insurance when one tumor started showing itself. Then she finally had no choice but to pay for health insurance she still couldn't afford in order to diagnose the foreign growth. After thinking she was good to go because she was enrolled in a health insurance plan, she was finally diagnosed with cancer, multiple tumors. The insurance company proceeded to give her the run around, severely limiting her access to treatment and refusing to pay. She tried to remain strong through labs, scans, biopsies, and a round of chemo, but suffered intense side effects for treatment that did not work. Because the treatment wasn't working...push rewind---play---repeat....she's dealing with starting over again and all the uncertainties remain... In order to pay what the insurance company refuses to cover, through it all, my sister continues to work a full-time job. With more intensive treatment inevitably coming, she cannot continue trying to cover it all... Just last week, the house where she has been renting an apartment, for herself and her daughter, was put up for sale so, now she also has to find a place to live... Our family is there for Trina, but we can only do so much against astronomical medical bills. She deserves to catch a break...please consider helping our TLC (Trina Louise Coy (Rowles)) with some TLC... THANK YOU SO MUCH!
