Running a marathon overseas has been on my bucketlist for some time now, so when I was asked to run the Mumbai Marathon, I knew I had take this once in a lifetime opportunity.
I will be running on behalf of the organization, Love & Care- a program committed to increasing the overall quality of life in rural India, specifically in the state of Gujarat.
Love & Care strives to eradicate the issues plaguing the impoverished with their program’s 10 initiatives; basic healthcare, education, the welfare of women and tribal populations, humanitarian efforts, emergency relief and environmental awareness.
Though all of them are very important, I am particularly touched by healthcare, education, and the empowerment of rural women.
Please help me raise funds for mobile medical camps that bring qualified doctors to the villages to treat ailments with preventative screenings, basic medication, and performing simple yet life-saving surgeries.
Please help me raise funds to set up certified schools in the middle of rural villages to children who would otherwise be denied a formal education.
And finally, please help me raise funds to improve the state of women by providing sanitary, pre-natal services to young girls, supporting abused and widowed women with employment opportunities, and allowing them specialized, higher education for long-term independence.
Again, thank you for helping me raise money for Love & Care. Running the Mumbai Marathon will be extremely challenging, but your support for such a noble cause will carry me each step of the way.
