Tristan's Journey to Health and Happiness
Organized by: Natalie Carr
EVENT DATE Dec 09, 2015
My name is Natalie and my son Tristan is suffering from a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) along with other mental health issues. We have been on the path for 4 years to try and find him the help he needs. He has been having debilitating headaches for a few months now. A very well know pharmacy mixed up the dosage on his meds and has caused a downward spiral effect that lead him to a mental breakdown, due to the lack of medication he was receiving. I found a clinic in California that is able to squeeze us in on Dec 21-24th. The cost of the clinic is $ 4,500 and we will have travel and lodging costs. This is our Christmas this year and honestly my family couldn't receive a better present than to help him get the medical attention he so desperately needs and deserves. The clininc is able to do brain scans and has cutting edge technology that is able to find out what is happening to cause these episodes and headaches. I am $100,000 in debt for the ongoing search to help my son. I am unable to apply for anymore loans so I am asking for any gracious assistance I could get in this time of need. It is extremely difficult to help minors with mental health issues, there is so much red tape involved. He was in and out of multiple facilities on our search for figuring out what was happening. We finally found a place that discovered the TBI and he began being treated. We were so relieved to finally have some sort of actual answer, but we had no idea that was just the tip of the iceberg. Between health insurance companies not wanting to allow anyone to stay anywhere long enough to get the actual care they need, to not being able to find the proper resources in our area, we are still to this day trying to find out what is exactly going on with his brain. In the process of searching for answers, we relocated to the country in hopes of helping him with his recovery. Unfortunately, that has lead to us being a single parent family. In relocating I was able to preform my business online and most of my clients were onboard. After relocating, I ended up losing 3/4 of my business and taking a severe cut in pay. As long as I am physically able I will fight for answers and advocate to help my son find the help he needs to be a contributing, positive, productive member of society. I won't let another person slip through the cracks of the mental health epidemic we have going on in this country. Thank each and everyone of you who reads this. I so greatly appreciate any assistance whether it be fiscally, emotionally or resources that I am unaware of that are out there. Happy holidays to all and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
