BENEFITING: The PRASAD Project, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
The PRASAD Project is a not-for-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life of economically disadvantaged people around the world. I've seen their outstanding work first hand, in Sullivan County, New York, and in the Tansa Valley near Mumbai in India. Check out more on their website: www.prasad.org.
I'm choosing to support one initiative in particular: the Orchard Project and Second Crop Initiative. You can learn about it in the Sustainable Development section of the website.
Now, why would I want to run 26 miles? About a year ago, I moved to the city from upstate New York. I was living in Harlem when, by chance, I ‘bumped’ into the 2010 NYC Marathon just a few blocks from my home.
I had been running regularly for two years, but never for such a long distance. I liked the challenge - and the ambiance. My next thought was: "How can that endeavor benefit others?" and PRASAD came to mind.
So I'll do the running, and I'm asking for your help for the giving. See you at the finish line, and happy giving!
