True freedom for Kim and her puppy with a new wheelchair
Organized by: Elissa Weimer
Kim is a wonderful lady that unfortunately does not have use of her legs and has to use a wheelchair at all times. She tried getting a service dog, but the dog that was lined up for her failed service dog training during his last week. Determined and optimistic, Kim decided to raise a Border Collie puppy named Tito and train him herself to be her personal service dog. Tito is doing amazing, however, he is too small to help pull her wheelchair safely. She is unable to go up even the slightest hills with him, and this makes it very difficult for her to train him by herself. His leash gets tangled in the wheels of her chair, and she cannot correct his jumping up on people and move her chair at the same time. Kim and Tito need our help to reach a whole new era in life. One where they can communicate more clearly without getting frustrated because of lack of mobility. We are hoping to raise enough money to be able to get Kim and Tito a lightweight and portable electronic wheelchair so Kim can be successful with her dog training and be able to fully enjoy her amazing puppy.
