True Hoos
Organized by: True Hoos
THE STORY:
The eastern entrance to the University of Virginia’s Grounds bears the inscription: “Enter by this gateway and seek the way of honor, the light of truth, and the will to work for men.” These qualities - honor, truth, and public service - define what it means to be a Wahoo.
A True Hoo stands up for what's right. A True Hoo pursues the truth. A True Hoo puts others first. Nicole Eramo is a True Hoo, and she needs our help.
Nicole will be filing a defamation lawsuit against Rolling Stone magazine for the deep personal and professional damage caused by the article, "A Rape on Campus." Nicole is beloved at the University by the many students she has supported over the years. With her lawsuit, she is standing up for all of us who were affected by the Rolling Stone article. Now is our time to come together as a UVA community to return the favor.
Nicole’s lawyers have agreed to discount their legal fees, but lawsuits are expensive and Nicole needs our help to cover the costs of litigation. If the lawsuit succeeds in requiring Rolling Stone to reimburse Nicole’s legal fees, contributions to this fund will be used to create a Sexual Assault Prevention Position at the University in memory of Nicole’s mother. Any excess funds collected will be used for this purpose as well.
Let’s come together and show the world what it means to be True Hoos.
