THE STORY:

Lukas, Oliver and Simon (and in one year, Lucy) go to a Waldorf inspired, public charter school. This is a school that is trying to do things a little differently, going against some of the current trends in today's schools that are pushing us towards things like earlier and more testing, no art and music education, and cutting outdoor time by having only one short recess! Our school takes the academics at a slower pace, allowing kids to have more time for things like art, music, handwork, and simple play outside every day. All three of our boys absolutely love this school and are thriving in an environment where there is strong academics, but where Lukas has time to draw and sketch, Oliver has lots of opportunities to go out and throw a football with his friends, and Simon can play but also knit a stuffed kitty that he is so proud of! While we couldn't be happier with our school and teachers, we are very unhappy about our school's funding problems. Because we are a charter school, our school receives just over half of what regular public schools do, that is around 58 cents to every dollar! As a school we have to raise money for materials, staff development, as well as field trips for our students to help make up for that difference. Please help us raise the last $10,000 that we need for this year by sponsoring our kids in this run! Thank you so much!
