Trying not to be homeless while going to College
Organized by: Khadidjah Almeida
Hi I'm a single mom who is trying to rebuilt her life after a hard divorced that left me homeless. Right now I'm renting a room in a house on North Natomas, around Truxel road/Walgreen's area. I've got a little break in life since the room I'm renting is in a nice neighborhood due to the owner twas trying to avoid foreclose , so she decided to get a roommate(me) so she could make enough to pay mortgage. This situation was temporary, and she end up selling her house. Now I want another place to rent. Has been 3 years that I'm trying to get a better life, so I'm taking classes at American River College at Natomas campus, my main goal is to get a AA in Communication with a college pathway for a 4 years degree, I take more than Full time credits, some semesters I take up to 20 units/credits. The campus it is about 3 miles from my house, that I walk everyday, which makes a very difficult task to accomplished since I live in the area way out of reach of the bus line( bus 11 Truxel road) and the only public transportation that comes by is a little shuttle( By North Natomas Transportation) in the morning (until 8:00am) and once again in the evenings( 4pm-7pm) and nothing else in between. So everyday I have to walk along side of the I-80 about 1H. 30min with (sometimes) my 9 years old son alongside and my backpack and his backpack on top of that, I have a sciatica on the lower left side of my body, sometimes I limp very hard. So with my back pain, 40 Hours College Studies,(plus I need to have a certain GPA score to keep receiving Cash id by Calworks program) plus being a single mom (with no family or friends to help out) it is hard for me to find a real job with a real salary( not work from home gig) job with extra-flexible schedule so I can continue further down my education and my chances to come out of homeless situation. I found a nice place to rent but the monthly rent is $674 for 1 bed/1 bath, and $500 deposit, and I only make $515 month. The place is called Valencia Appt. 4500 Natomas Central Dr, Sacramento, CA 95834 , and it is sort of the neighbrohood I live now which is in the surrounding areas of my college and my son's school. The place is income base and it is for low income yet requires that I have the double the rent on the bank account which I dont. So if you would like to donate so I can get a place for rent while going Full time college me and my little one would be very happy! Thanks to all! Also please share our link so we can reach many others that can help! Thanks! If you have any questions or want to contact me direct you can ad me on whatsup 1(916)228-1150
PS.: I'm also accepting job offer as well.
