BENEFITING: National Ambucs Inc
Do you remember learning to ride a bike? The fun, the freedom and the excitement of getting your very own "wheels"? As the saying goes, once you learn- you never forget. But what if you were never given that chance? This is the case for many children with special needs. Limitations like poor balance, lack of motor control and coordination, muscle weakness and visual impairment exclude these kids from this American childhood rite of passage. The Music City Trykes Chapter of National AMBUCS is a non-profit organization that provides customized, adaptive "Trykes" to children with special needs living in the middle Tennessee area. With a vast array of frame and adaptive accessory options almost any child who would like to ride, can ride! To date, our chapter, has presented 324 AmTrykes® to local children with special needs. Our riders do the most amazing things on their bikes: riding to school, shopping at Target, walk-a-thons, trick or treating and even competing in triathlons! However, there are always more kids waiting, with over 65 on our current "Wish List”. We've set a goal this year to raise $12,000 for our annual holiday give-away event. This will help us put a big dent in our Wish List. Every penny counts- no donation is too small! Many of our families are actively raising funds and your donation may be all that is needed to purchase their child's bike. Let's put as many “Trykes Under the Tree" as possible this holiday season!!
