BENEFITING: DALLAS MARATHON
ORGANIZER: Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
Many of you already know my story but for those of you who don't, I run because I can! I ran my first marathon in The Woodlands in early 2013 and I was all excited to run the Dallas marathon in December last year. When this marathon was cancelled at the last moment due to bad weather I was extremely dissappointed. Not at least because so many of you generously donated for my cause for this race, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. This is the hospital Henrik has been visiting for almost 15 years now. The last two years very frequently following two major back surgeries, but Henrik is now doing very well and will graduate from High School next June!
Within hours of the 2013 Dallas marathon being cancelled I decided to run again this year. For a warm-up I ran The Woodlands marathon again this year in March. Just after the summer I developed a stress facture in my leg and was told to stop running. With my plans for the 2014 Dallas marathon becoming jeopardized once again I started aqua running in the pool. Only a few weeks ago my physician cleared me for running and I started running again with a foot brace (hopefully that is gone by the time of the race!).
I am satisfied now that I have picked up the pace and that I will be ready for race day on December 13th 2014. So with only 3 short more weeks of training to go, I will be ready to run my third marathon!
My goal is to raise $100 for every mile I run, so a grand total of at least $2,620. I hope I can count on you to help me reach this goal. The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital does an enormous amount of good work for the children in North Texas. As you all know, this hospital also means a lot to the whole Kool family, not only to Henrik.
