Most of you know of my call to pursue a Master of Divinity at Emory/Candler School of Theology beginning this fall. Doing so requires full time attention to studies for the next three years, stepping away from the traditional workforce. My immediate goal is to attain part-time flexible employment and seek support to fund tuition. The nine month 2015 – 2016 academic year cost is approximately $22,000, not including books, supplies, parking, fees, etc. Currently, I have been awarded one grant in the amount of $7,500 contingent on maintaining a minimum GPA requirement.
Early in the discernment process, I was adamant that returning to school was unrealistic; however, I now recognize that additional education is key in life formation and continuous fulfillment of my evolving purpose. My vocation of interest currently lies in chaplaincy, perhaps in a hospital or prison setting. The long term path is still cloudy, but the direction of this day is known. I am asking for your help.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. A special shout out to the many who have lived the stories of my past hand in hand, molding me and supporting me to be here today - you know who you are and I love you dearly.
