EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the 2015 Boston Marathon!
After the events of the 2013 Marathon, and my experience at the finish line (http://now.tufts.edu/articles/remembering-day), I made a quiet committment to myself that I would run in 2015 — not just for myself, but for all the people affected and those who supported me as I processed what happened in the immediate aftermath of the bombings (http://blog.kelvinmaphoto.com/2014/04/15/one-year-later/).
As a kid growing up within earshot of the Hopkinton starting line, I got to hear the hum of race from my bedroom window every April. Then usually, I'd get out of bed, head downstairs on turn on the TV and watch the race from the comfort of my living room. I was, after all, a kid with a day off from school and there wasn't much else to watch on a Monday morning.
Fast forward to adulthood, where I've continued to set higher and loftier goals. I can add countless 5ks, 10ks, a handful of half marathons and triathlons, and even a bunch of bike races to my medal and bib collection. And thanks to the support of my friends at November Project workouts and our Breakfast Club runs in between, I've never had more fun getting fit.
The 2015 Boston Marathon will be biggest goal yet.
Thanks to the folks at Tufts University, I now have the opportunity to attempt it. If you've made it this far, I appreciate your taking the time to read about my story, and I ask for your help and generosity as we fundraise for the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition and their efforts to combat childhood obesity.
