THE STORY:

Matthew was born at 23 weeks and was mentally and physically disabled, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and suffered from seizures. He had a love of play, he loved to be outside throwing a ball or being on the playground with his classmates. He loved playing on his iPad too, he would spend hours watching Youtube and Netflix, fast forwarding and rewinding to his favorite parts. Earlier this year we lost Matthew, he enjoyed life to the age of 19, he was never expected to make it out of the hospital. We are raising money to help other kids be able to enjoy their lives in the same way that he did.

I really don't know how to start my message, today has been a long day for myself and my coworkers, getting home late, we're working at Yosemite national park, Tuolumne meadows lodge, we're setting up upgraded phone service for AT&T. I usually catch up on The Chive, during breaks but since we've taken down the site, I have no service during the day, all week now. Getting back to our living quarters for the week, I opened up the app to the first thing that caught my attention, "an inspiring letter from miss jo" I couldn't agree more with you guys when I think of The Chive being the worlds best website. This story, among others have made my eyes sweat, seeing all these beautiful children so full of life, and not having a playground where memories are made and imagination blossoms pretty much roundhouse kicked me right in the feels, I hope they get the shelves they need and the new electronics they deserve to have. I've always said if one day I become a millionaire A LOT of wampum is going straight to Saint Jude's and places like Tulsa Special Kids Day Care. For now I'll donate what I can because I love how The Chive comes through for the awesome people in need. It's past my bed time now, gotta jump into my onesie now, you guys are f***ing awesome GOODNIGHT! 1 year ago
