Class of 2007
Chris Ganter wrote -The annual State College Area High School alumni touch football tournament will be held Friday, November 29th at 10:30am at Memorial Field. In past years, we have raised money for a number of causes, somewhat informally. Last year, we donated the funds raised by over 100 former State High students to Coaches vs. Cancer in the name of our friend and teammate, Brandon Ream. Brandon was a yearly participant in the event, and was battling serious cancer - a battle that he fought with a courage that inspired us all before passing away just this week. Sadly, he was not the only "Turkey Bowl" participant we lost this year, as fellow class of 2002 member, Jeremy Wise, passed away this May.
This year, we will make donations to causes near and dear to the hearts of Turkey Bowl participants, which includes scholarship awards set up for graduating State High seniors, along with funds set up in the names of our two fallen brothers.
One of the things that separates our Thanksgiving "Turkey Bowl" from others, is that each graduated State High class forms a team to compete for the title. In addition to reliving our glory days competing on the field, we wanted to have a friendly competition for a good cause, by having each class create a sub-group in CrowdRise and try to raise the most money. The winning class will have their class year memorialized on a plaque that will be displayed in the high school.
If you don't have a specific class you want to donate towards, donations to the general pool are also gladly accepted.
