THE STORY:

Hello! Thank you for reading my request. Here's my story: My daughter Juliana turns 18 on April 18, and I am unable to provide the kind of celebration of this special day she deserves. No sob story here, just the facts: I am a former foster kid who aged out of the system determined to be the best mother possible (anyone who knows me knows children are my priority!). I did it; I have two incredible grown daughters.  All of my life, I have beaten the odds, succeeding in college and earning a masters degree while also raising two children.  I know that I will continue to succeed at whatever I put my heart into.  Right now, though, I have a particular wish you may be able to assist with:  Juliana celebrates her "Golden Birthday" on April 18, 2014. We're struggling here a bit with our home in foreclosure and three of us sharing one car, making getting to and from our various jobs/school is pretty tricky (but doable!). It's all going to be just fine, eventually; I have no doubt about this. Here's the thing: her birthday is coming, and I am struggling to make her Golden Birthday the celebration she deserves. A LITTLE ABOUT JULIANA: She's an outstanding honors student--five Advanced Placement classes her senior year and several scholarship offers to good schools. She has been studying classical piano since age 5 and is an accomplished pianist. Once a week, for the past four years, she has worked with kids in a Chicago Community Center, mostly tutoring, but having a lot of fun too. Juliana is on her way out into the world soon, and we have been unable to save for her living expenses. Our current home will be gone, and all three of us have a lot of "figuring out" to do. Again, I know we will be fine; we are resilient! Until we're better organized, my kind request is for help in sending her off in a much more secure financial position that I have been able to provide for her. She is an awesome young lady who is more than deserving of the generous amount I hope to raise ($18,000.00). Thank you in advance for supporting Juliana's April 18th, 18th Birthday/Send Off to College!
