I'm proud to be a part of Team Tusk for the NYC Marathon 2012.
Tusk has been growing substantially in the last few years, and I am happy to support the organization's presence in the US. The NYC marathon awards places to many important charities, but I am especially excited to be on the first ever wildlife conservation team in this prestigious marathon's history.
Tusk currently supports 40 projects across 17 African countries. These projects fall into three categories: supporting wildlife, supporting communities, and promoting education. Everything that Tusk accomplishes is an investment in the future of Africa. By placing the future of Africa in the hands of local communities, we can establish long-term and sustainable conservation practices.
Please check out the Tusk website to learn more about this excellent organization: www.tusk.org
With your help we can support a cause that desperately needs our help. Tusk will support the groundwork in Africa, I will do the running in NYC, and I hope you can make a donation of any amount to get things started. If you know anybody who you think may support the work that Tusk does, please forward this page to them. Whether your support comes in the form of a donation or an attempt to spread the word about Tusk, thank you.
A message from TUSK:
The most well-known road race in the media capital of the world, the ING New York CIty Marathon has been one of the premier athletic and fundraising events since its inception in 1970. The 26.2 mile route that started out as a loop through Central Park now spans all five boroughs, through all of the colorful neighborhoods and microcosms of New York. The crowd of participants has also evolved since the early years. What was once a foot race with a mere 55 finishers is now a global affair with over 47,000 runners to cross the finish line.
The media attention that surrounds this race is undeniably a opportunity for change. This November, Tusk USA will launch its first ever team to run through the five boroughs for African conservation. By supporting our team, you are in turn supporting productive development in African communities, for African wildlife, by Africans themselves. Tusk has been billed as one of the most comprehensive charities working in the continent today because of its grassroots approach to the poaching crisis. Tusk works on both levels of action: swift demobilization of poachers as well as deeper improvements in environmental education and communities.
Please help our runners reach their fundraising goals by donating here and come out to cheer for Team Tusk this fall!
